| Job Description | The Visual and Studio Arts program at Sarah Lawrence College announces a half-time Guest Faculty appointment for a one-year position in printmaking beginning Fall 2026. Candidates should have at least two years of teaching experience with undergraduates, and should be proficient in a variety of printmaking media including silkscreen, relief, artists books, intaglio and experimental printmaking, in an environment that practices newly developed nontoxic printmaking methodologies. We are additionally interested in coursework that could include some awareness of digital processes that are friendly to traditional printmaking practices such as the use of scanners, vinyl cutters, and open source softwares and encourage applications from printmakers who can envision paper-to-digital-to-paper workflows or the ways new practices can be in conversation with traditional printmaking techniques. A Guest Faculty would teach one five hour studio class with a maximum of fifteen students per semester in the fall and spring semesters. In this five hour course, in addition to regular coursework, each of the fifteen students will work on an independent project (aka Conference Work) supervised by the instructor, a hallmark of the Sarah Lawrence educational system. Guest Faculty will also teach one two hour studio seminar or concept class per year. The Guest Faculty is required to spend two days on campus each semester. Application materials must include: cover letter, CV, three ideas for beginning and intermediate level courses, along with a brief description of each idea; teaching philosophy specifically related to teaching printmaking at a liberal arts institution; PDF portfolio or online link pr pdf portfolio containing ten to twenty examples of recent work; three contact references who will be contacted for letters of recommendation upon the submission of the candidate’s application. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. This is an in-person teaching appointment, with the expectation that the appointed individual will teach on campus for the duration of the contract period. Compensation for this position is a per-course rate based on experience. |
