Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB), and Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo is recruiting a senior level faculty member to serve as Vice Chair for Research. The ideal candidate will be board certified in pediatrics and spend 0.6 FTE in their clinical care sub-specialty, and dedicate 0.4 FTE toward the responsibility and oversight of building the research enterprise within the department and developing a clinical research institute for pediatrics. Recruited faculty are expected to have external federal funding.

Responsibilities of the Vice Chair for Research include:
- Overseeing research activities, initiatives, and projects within the department;
- Supporting and guiding research strategy and direction;
- Ensuring research compliance and quality;
- Managing research budgets and resources;
- Collaborating with other academic and administrative leaders;
- Facilitating communication between researchers and leadership.

Candidates will be appointed to rank commensurate with experience, and hiring package dependent on qualifications.

The Department of Pediatrics is composed of 18 divisions, all actively engaged in research and dedicated to excellence in patient care and teaching. Clinical activities are based at Golisano Children’s Hospital, the regional center for comprehensive and state-of-the-art pediatric trauma, surgical and medical care, including neonatal, perinatal and obstetrical services. As one of the 43 freestanding children’s hospitals in the nation, and the only one in New York State, the entire facility was built with children and families in mind. The 12 floor 200-bed modem facility is an integral part of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), linking with Buffalo General Medical Center, Gates Vascular Institute, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo and more. UBMD Pediatrics is one of 16 practice plans within UBMD Physicians’ Group, the single largest medical group in Western New York. We provide premier health care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. In addition to primary care pediatrics, we have 17 pediatric subspecialties. Our physicians make up the academic teaching faculty within the Department of Pediatrics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo and Golisano Children’s Hospital.
