JOB SUMMARY:

The Coordinator for Interdisciplinary Degrees provides centralized student success support and program coordination for students enrolled in Adelphi University’s Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP). This position supports students navigating complex academic pathways that span undergraduate and graduate coursework, multiple colleges, and integrated program requirements. Housed within the Office of Student Success, the Coordinator serves as a dedicated resource focused on student engagement, progression monitoring, retention, academic support, and programmatic coordination. The advisor collaborates closely with the STEP Program Director and university stakeholders to ensure students receive consistent support throughout their academic experience while helping to strengthen institutional goals related to student success, continuous improvement, and accreditation compliance.

This position has an anticipated start date of the end of August.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Student Success and Administrative Affairs

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Monitor student academic progression, retention, and completion benchmarks to support timely degree attainment across multiple colleges and departments.

  2. Serve as a primary point of contact for students navigating academic, administrative, and programmatic requirements across multiple colleges and departments. Monitor and document student progression.

  3. Coordinate and implement student engagement programming, workshops, orientations, transition initiatives, and community-building activities designed to support student persistence and success within STEP.

  4. Collaborate with the STEP Program Director, faculty, and university offices to address student needs and improve the overall student experience.

  5. Support accreditation initiatives through documentation of candidate support systems, progression monitoring, and student engagement efforts.

  6. Participate in recruitment initiatives, open houses, informational sessions, admitted student events, and other university programming supporting combined-degree pathways.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with student support initiatives as delegated by the Office of Student Success.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  2. Knowledge of teacher education programs.

  3. Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed and confidential student records.

  4. Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.

  5. Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.

  6. Strong computer skills; Word, Excel and Email; data base management in SLATE, CLASS or equivalent.

  7. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  8. Demonstrated ability to support students navigating complex academic programs and institutional processes.

  9. Commitment to student-centered support practices and collaborative teamwork.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

  2. Master’s degree is preferred.

  3. Minimum of two to three years of experience in academic advising, student affairs, student success programming, or higher education administration.

  4. Knowledge of current NYSTCE (Teacher Certification Exams) preferred.
