Payroll and Benefits Clerk

The Carmelite System is a multi-state not-for-profit senior living organization sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged & Infirm. The Carmelite Sisters operate a network of 14 skilled nursing facilities throughout the United States.

We are seeking to hire a Payroll and Benefits Clerk.

  • This is a hybrid remote role requiring easy commute distance to our Germantown, NY office for in-office responsibilities.
  • $24.50 to $26.50 per hour based on skills and experience.

Payroll and Benefits Clerk Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting or related related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience with payroll/timekeeping software (e.g., ADP, Workday, UKG, UltiPro).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to use V-Lookup/Pivot tables preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Payroll and Benefits Clerk Job Summary:

  • Process Bi-weekly Payroll.
  • Assist with additional Payroll Processing related tasks on Bi-weekly/monthly basis.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately.
  • Act as an alternate payroll processor in the absence of the Payroll Administrator.
  • Assist with internal audit of Bi-Weekly/Quarterly/Annual payroll-related data and reports.
  • Assist in reviewing, and documenting, current Payroll/Timekeeping processes.
  • Maintain employee records in the core payroll system (new hires, terminations, transfers).
  • Ensure proper documentation of employee benefits, leave balances, and salary adjustments.
  • Assist the HRIS team with preparing check requests for garnishments, benefits deductions, and reconciliation of all related employee deductions.
