Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

We’re actively looking for an Entry Level Coastal/Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team in New York, ideally located in out of both our New York and Long Island offices. This position will support the planning, permitting and design of waterfront and coastal infrastructure and upland drainage projects throughout our footprint. Projects would vary, but include design of marinas, piers, bulkheads, seawall, revetments, marine terminal structures, living shoreline stabilization, riverine analysis, design of drainage structures and collection systems.

The candidate who fills this position will join a high performing team that provides clients with multi-disciplinary engineering and science-based solutions to coastal management challenges including coastal/waterfront engineering, coastal flood risk, resiliency and adaptation design, and dredged material management.

Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing Waterfront/Coastal and Water Resources projects under the guidance of experienced engineers
  • Develop plan sets for planning, regulatory review and construction using AutoCAD
  • Assist in the design and permitting of infrastructure, such as piers, marinas, bulkheads, drainage systems, riverine revetment
  • Analyze and support the design of structures for flood and erosion control, including seawalls, bulkheads, and breakwaters
  • Contribute to development of living shoreline erosion solutions designs
  • Conduct technical analyses and performing basic calculations
  • Assist with dredging design and permitting processes
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculation for both tidal and riverine conditions
  • Support in construction contract administration tasks including fieldwork
  • Participate in site inspections and assisting in the preparation of reports

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil, Structural, Waterfront, or Coastal Engineering. MS degree preferred.
  • 0-1 year of experience in Waterfront Engineering
  • EIT preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $85,000-88,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
