Job Description:
Gas Power Engineering Learning and Operations Specialist:
Resource focused on onboarding enablement, learning operations, and program coordination to ensure new engineers reach productivity faster; and that learning programs are delivered with consistency, quality, and minimal friction.
Objectives:
Serve as a central enablement partner for onboarding and learning operations in Gas Power Engineering.
Support new hires, interns, and EEDP participants through a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience.
Coordinate operational and logistical execution for Technical Learning Office (TLO)-led learning programs, technical seminars, and early-career development events.
Help ensure engineers are set up for success through strong Day 1 readiness, training support, systems access, and professional onboarding.
Support the planning and coordination of foundational technical learning experiences, including A-Course and B-Course learning events.
Reduce administrative burden on engineering leaders, instructors, and program owners through standardized processes and reliable operational support.
Core Responsibilities and Scope:
- New Hire Onboarding Enablement - Own and coordinate onboarding readiness for new Gas Power Engineering hires in Schenectady and virtually supporting other sites
- Training & Seminar Logistics Ownership - Provide end-to-end coordination for all Gas Power Engineering learning events
- Professional Skills & Early Career Training Delivery - Deliver standardized onboarding training sessions focused on professional excellence
- Gas Power Engineering Values & Culture Deep Dive - Facilitate structured onboarding sessions introducing the Five Pillars of Client and business etiquette
- Mentorship & Network Building Enablement - Educate new engineers on the importance of mentorship and internal networking
- Productivity Enablement & Best Practices - Provide guidance and resources that help new team members become productive faster
Key Deliverables:
- Consistent, high-quality onboarding experience for new hires, interns, and EEDP participants
- Strong Day 1 readiness, including systems access, communications, and onboarding support
- Seamless execution of TLO training sessions, seminars, and development events
- Effective coordination and support for A-Course and B-Course
- Standardized onboarding modules, training materials, and operational processes
- Reduced administrative burden on engineering leaders, instructors, and program owners
- Improved early-career engagement, readiness, and time to productivity
- Measurable improvements in onboarding efficiency, training execution, and learner satisfaction
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in: Engineering, Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, Management, Learning or Instructional Design, Operations, Project Management
Proven experience and proficiency in:
Strong organizational and program coordination skills
Experience supporting onboarding, training operations, or learning programs
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, schedules, and operational details
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
Comfort working across HR, engineering, instructors, and early-career program stakeholders
Ability to create structure, standardize processes, and drive follow-through
Proficiency with common business and collaboration tools such as Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, and shared file systems
