The Operating Room Business Manager is responsible for the financial and operational performance of the operating room, with a primary focus on billing accuracy, supply and inventory management, and cost containment. This role partners closely with clinical leadership, supply chain, and finance to reduce spend, improve contract pricing, and ensure efficient, compliant OR operations.
Financial and Billing Management
Oversee OR billing processes to ensure accurate charge capture
Monitor case costs, reimbursement trends, and contribution margins by procedure, surgeon, and service line.
Manage OR supplies and inventory, including PAR levels, usage tracking, and expiration management
Analyze supply utilization and standardize products where clinically appropriate to reduce variation and cost
Lead initiatives to reduce waste, excess inventory, and non-contract purchasing
Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate vendors, negotiate pricing, and improve contract terms
Support value analysis initiatives and new product evaluations with cost/benefit analysis.
Contract and Vendor Management
Review and manage OR-related vendor contracts to ensure favorable pricing and compliance
Identify opportunities for renegotiation, consolidation, and conversion to lower-cost alternatives
Maintain strong relationships with vendors while prioritizing organizational financial goals
Operational and Strategic Support
Collaborate with OR leadership to align financial strategy with clinical operations
Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning for the OR
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness
Qualifications
College Education preferred. Business degree preferred.
3–5 years of experience in healthcare operations, OR management, supply chain, or revenue cycle
Demonstrated experience with cost reduction, inventory management, and financial analysis
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
