Position Summary

The Central Processing Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, coordinating, staffing, directing, controlling and evaluating the daily operation of the Central/Supply Processing Department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
  1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
  2. Demonstrates/articulates an understanding of the responsibilities of the position
  3. Verbalizes and applies knowledge of current department and hospital policies and procedures
  4. Attends staff meeting or equivalent, to update knowledge related to current department/hospital issues
  5. Attends in services as required/requested to update knowledge
  6. Completes annual department/hospital competency requirements and documents appropriately on Competency/Education Record
  7. Adheres to all WPHC policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance and submission of annual physical
  8. Assure that standards of operation are in compliance with regulatory agencies requirements
  9. Demonstrates effective communication skills both written and verbal
  10. Oversee Emergency Code Cart Exchange for Adult and Broselow, Bronchoscopy cart, Chest tube cart and GU cart.
  11. Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  12. Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills
  13. Daily Shift Assignment assign staff to stations within department
  14. Productivity Statistic Reporting
  15. Daily Resource Planning
  16. Documentation Verification
  17. Troubleshoot Daily Issues

Education & Experience Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED required/preferred Associate or Bachelor Degree
    • Certification in area of specialty CRCST or Certification in CRCST leadership must be obtained within 3 years of hire date.
    • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of management skills
    • Previous management/leadership experience preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years relevant Operating Room experience and/or Central Processing experience
    • Demonstrates excellence in clinical skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Must be able to effectively communicate with department personnel, physicians and other hospital staff.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
    • May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
    • Must be able to transport heavy objects, and remain in a stationary position for more than 60 minutes, in order to perform the outlined job duties properly and safely frequently.
    • Ability to manually operate sterilizers 100% of the time.
    • Requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail, with interruptions, while attending to tasks frequently.
    • Must be detailed-oriented and accurate.
    • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple tasks frequently.
    • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in routine frequently.
    • Must be able to assess the immediacy of emergency situations 100% of the time.
    • Must be able to detect objects close and far
